PREMIER DIVISION Harefield 1 Hertford Town 2
A flurry of goals in eight second half minutes ended with Harefield United going down to their first home defeat in the league.
Mid-table Hertford Town came for a point but left with all three after twice taking the lead either side of Tom Kirk's reply for the Hares.
Harefield still lead the table by 11 points after nearest challengers Langford and Kingsbury London Tigers also lost and were overtaken by Colney Heath on goal difference.
Hertford packed the midfield and there were few chances in the first half, with those that did arrive failing to trouble either keeper.
Jamie Houliston and Joe Kelly overlapped down each wing to exert pressure on the visiting defence but Jamie Abbott and Duncan Hamilton were up to the task, while at the other end the best chance came on 22 minutes and Attila Korsoveczki blasted over.
Chris Drake and Danny Buckle tried hard up front but opportunities were few and far between, the best coming on 39 minutes when a cross from Paul Haynes found Houliston but he headed just wide.
Three minutes later Kelly centred and as Hertford failed to clear Haynes got a shot in but only found the side netting.
Gaps started to open up in both defences after the break and although the Hares enjoyed the early pressure it was Hertford that scored first on 64 minutes when the hosts were caught out and Owen Beale was able to pick his spot.
Harefield struck straight back from the kick-off, winning a corner and when Houliston's cross was missed by the Hertford keeper, Kirk poked home the equaliser.
Seven minutes on, however, the Hares defence was opened up again when a poor clearance was picked up by Dave Hunt and he took his chance.
The Hares launched attack after attack in the final 15 minutes and only a combination of desperate defending and poor finishing prevented the hosts drawing level again.
Houliston's centre found Murray Williamson on 81 minutes but his header rattled the bar when it seemed easier to score, before Drake was put through five minutes from time and he rounded the keeper but a poor shot was cleared by the defence, leaving a very relieved Hertford side to celebrate three points.

Berkhamsted owed a substantial amount of money not least to British Gas, who cut off power to their Broadwater Ground, rendering it unfit for use for Spartan League football.
