Premier Division: Harefield United 2 Langford 0
HAREFIELD continued their fine recent form in this clash between two of the top sides in the Premier Division.
Langford have made one of their better to the season and did the doiuble over the Hares last term.
However, Harefield went in to match oin confident mood on the back oif a three match unbeaten run and a 8-1 battering of Haringey Borough in midweek.
Hares came out determined to prove a point and they took the game to Langford.
But both sides' defences looked comfortable and there were few chances in the first half.
Langford keeper Steve Young kept them in the game when on 20 minutes Chris Drake was through but the leg of Young denied Hares the lead.
But on 29 minutes Drake got his reward when he rifled home to put the Hares in the driving seat.
Arion Maleknia and Adam Willis were causing problems for the Lang-ford defence while at the other end Andy Howells and Gary Walker were trying to carve an opening for the visitors.
The midfield battle continued for the rest of the half and it was still 1-0 at the interval
The second half saw the game open up with Langford looking to break with long early balls and the Hares building from the back.
On 57 minutes Longford's Rob Groves was put through down the left only for his shot to be driven wide. At the other end Maleknia had a golden opportunity but shot straight at the keeper.
Willis was then again denied by the lg of Young as Hares pushed for the crucial second goal.
On 68 minutes another shot by Willis was kept out by Young but he got his reward after 79 minutes when a through ball found the Langford defence wanting and this time he rounded the keeper to score.
This was a good three points for the Hares and moves them upto second spot in the table.
