Ben Pringle is set to fill an emergency void at Ipswich Town - but there are unlikely to be immediate loans for any of Fulham's six central defenders.

Reports suggest Pringle, who has made only 12 starts since his summer signing from Rotherham, the last on December 5, will be allowed to help the struggling Tractor Boys following Tommy Oar’s departure and Ryan Fraser’s injury on a 93-day emergency loan.

The left-sided midfielder has himself struggled to make an impact on Fulham's left side kept out of the team by the likes of Alex Kacaniklic.

But Whites' boss promised it was all to play for when it came to filling the two central defensive slots after he signed Michael Madl from Sturm Graz on loan in the transfer window.

In Saturday's 1-1 draw with Derby, Slavisa Jokanovic played Dan Burn and Fernando Amorebieta, back from his loan spell at Middlesbrough in the heart of his defence, and left £2 million Tim Ream on the bench.

Another big summer signing, Richard Stearman didn't even get that far, while Shaun Hutchinson and Madl were also left to watch the action from the stands.

"There is competition for places, and we can play people like Tim Ream in different positions if we need to," Jokanovic explained.
