Jose Mourinho reckons the media should be embarrassed after off-the-record comments he made to a French TV channel were made public.

The Chelsea manager was filmed speaking to a businessman at a promotional event about his team’s strikers without his knowledge.

Mourinho declared his interest in signing Monaco striker Radamel Falcao while admitting he is lacking attacking options at Stamford Bridge.

He was also unsure of the age of Samuel Eto’o.

It was back-page news in the national press this morning and the Special One has blasted the media ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League tie with Galatasaray on Wednesday.

“I think you all should be a bit embarrassed because it is against all the ethics,” Mourinho told reporters today.

“I’m not defending what I’m saying. I’m attacking. That person showed what he is or what he doesn’t know about the job.

Under fire: Samuel Eto'o bore the brunt of Mourinho's criticism

“First of all, I don’t make fun. Secondly, I’m one of the managers who defends their players. Thirdly, Samuel Eto’o is a four times Champions League winner.

“It was with him that I had the best time of my career. He has no reason to be upset. A few years ago he said Mourinho was the one manager he’d never play for and now he’s played for me at Inter and at Chelsea.

“It’s a disgrace that somebody is recording a private conversation.”

Mourinho’s concerns over his strike-force are not without foundation.

Two midfield players, Eden Hazard and Oscar, lead the club’s scoring charts this season.
