Gareth Ainsworth believes Ebere Eze is 'going to be opening a few eyes very soon' after the QPR loanee opened his account for Wycombe with two great goals against Cambridge in a 3-1 win.

The 19-year-old picked out the top corner twice, using both feet, from outside the box and the former Rs man was delighted with his impact.

But, as you would expect from the Chairboys boss, he was also going to give credit to his side and the way they have helped him develop.

"Do not underestimate that result," continued Ainsworth. "This is a tough place, we knew that last year, there are two solid strikers for Cambridge in (Uche) Ikpeazu and (Jabo) Ibehre but the boys kept them quiet.

"The unsung heroes are the boys at the back.

"But the headlines will go to Eze. Ironically, the story is I worked with him yesterday and said 'you're due a goal, you don't have to put it in the top corner.' What does he go and do? He puts it in the top corner, so what do I know! Fantastic talent, and what a great character to have around.

"I love working with him. The older boys are rubbing off on him, they're complementing him, they're making sure he doesn't get too high and keeping his feet on the floor, but he's a talent and I think he's going to be opening a few eyes very soon. I'm just glad we've got him, at least until January.

"Today's about a great professional performance. We have times in games, 25 minutes when we're on top of teams and it's about taking your chances. I'm so proud, to be a Wycombe Wanderers fan is brilliant at the moment."
