QPR winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has vowed to stay at Loftus Road and help them win promotion back to the Premier League.

The former England star was restricted to just 22 appearances this season as Rangers were relegated to the Championship.

Wright-Phillips was unable to play a part in the final two months of the campaign after going under the knife on a niggling ankle injury.

However, the 31-year-old is on the road to recovery and is expected to be ready to return for the beginning of pre-season training.

And Wright-Phillips, who has two years to run on his contract, has told family he wants to remain in W12.

“Shaun's doing okay,” said his brother, Bradley, who ended the campaign on loan at Brentford.

“The operation had to be done. The main thing is he will be fit and ready for next season.

“When I spoke to him he said he loves it at QPR. He's got loads of friends there and still has two years left on his contract. He's happy there.”
