Two Brentford FC fans were witnesses to the ugly racist incident which saw one England fan attack another and bite his ear lobe off in during a World Cup match in Brazil.

Bees fanatic Billy Grant, from North London, who also video blogs for Brentford's beesotted fanzine, filmed the incident while videoing blogging the World Cup for worldcupfancam.com, while friend and fellow Bee Phil Marchant, from Brentford, was also on the scene.

The shameful incident saw England fan Robert Farquharson attacked by a fellow England supporter after the game against Uruguay at the Arena Corinthians stadium, which Roy Hodgson's men lost 2-1 to bring a premature end to their World Cup adventure.

In the video, Farquharson tells the camera the thug targeted him with a vile racist slur before biting his ear, and then told the victim he should not be supporting England.

Grant, who has been following England home and away for more than two decades, said as appalling as the incident was, it was not typical of his experiences watching the national side.

He said: “Everyone who witnessed what happened to the kid was absolutely disgusted. The guy who attacked him was an idiot. He attacked another England fan, racially abused him and then bit his ear off. It was appalling.

“All of a sudden, he (the attacker) just laid into this guy, and everyone starts saying: 'What's going on? I thought he was actually Uruguayan because I thought he was probably caught in the middle of the England fans, somebody probably said something to him and he hit back."

“We said 'what's going on mate, that Uruguayan, what was going on?' And the guy said: 'He wasn't Uruguayan, he was English, and he racially abused my mate here and he bit his ear off.' We don’t want things to go back to the bad old days. This guy has no place in the game.”
