Chelsea teammates of Andre Schürrle have taken to Twitter to congratulate the German star on winning the World Cup.

Schürrle came off the bench on the half-hour mark against Argentina to replace the injured Christoph Kramer and set up the only goal in extra time for Mario Götze to give his side the trophy.

And as the Blues star celebrated in Brazil, his Chelsea team-mates were offering their congratulations via the social networking site.

Keeper Petr Cech said: "Great final... Congratulations to #GER and especially @Andre_Schuerrle !"

Belgian midfield star Eden Hazard tweeted: Congratulation my man @Andre_Schuerrle ... See you soon."

Defender César Azpilicueta added: "Enhorabuena Alemania y en especial a @Andre_Schuerrle! Congratulations Germany and specially to Andre!"

Schürrle accelerated down the left before putting in a pin-point cross for Götze to chest down and volley past Argentinian goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

Speaking afterwards, the Blues forward said: It's Unbelievable. A fantastic night for us. It was crazy but now all we want to do is celebrate with all the fans.

All that in my mind was to cross the ball and is was a fantastic finish [from Götze]. I am now a world champion - I still can't believe it."
