James Tarkowski inists Brentford will continue trying to play football the right way, despite it costing them Saturday's game at Swindon Town.

In line with the club's preference to play the ball out from the back, keeper David Button played the ball out to Jonathan Douglas with the midfielder in a dangerous area in first half stoppage time.

Douglas inevitably lost the ball, leaving Swindon's Louie Thompson with the simple task of slotting the ball past a prone Button for what proved to be the only goal of the game.

But Tarkowski said: “That's the way the manager wants us to play the game, and it's the way we will continue to play. One mistake cost us, but more often than not, playing from the back will help set a chance up for us at the other end instead. It's a style that suits me too as I like to play the ball out of defence.”

The goal also brought an end to Tarkowksi's proud run of clean sheets since joining the Bees from Oldham back in January.

Previously, in eight games for the club, Brentford had only conceded once, against Notts County, but by then Tarkowski had already been replaced by sub Harlee Dean.

He added: “It's been good. I've had a nice run of clean sheets since I came here, but the credit has to go to the whole team really, and the boys who are already here. There's three or four of us playing for those centre back spots, so we know we cannot let our form slip at any time.”
