Fulham's leaky defence could well be in for another torrid time at Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

The Whites have the worst defensive record on the road in the Championship having conceded 21 times in seven games.

And according to Simon Bajkowski from the Manchester Evening News, Wigan are more than ready to add to that tally.

Uwe Rosler's side go into the match on the back of an impressive 2-1 win at Championship leaders Derby, ending a run of eight games without a victory.

James McClean was the man that did the damage that day and Bajkowski believes he could once again prove to the match-winner.

He said: "The left-footed attacking player has not played every game this season but his confidence is high, especially having played the full 90 minutes as Ireland grabbed a dramatic equaliser against Germany in the last international break.

"With Wigan's strikers struggling to fire, McClean could be one of their main threats in front of goal, as the Rams found out.

McManaman had an injury-disrupted season last year but Bajkowski says there are signs he is getting back to his best.

He added: "McManaman has been one of few bright sparks for Wigan during their difficult start and the fact that he is on his own at the top of the scoring charts shows how the team have struggled to create opportunities without him.

"A fierce competitor with quick feet and sharp pace, the 23-year-old winger is too good for most in the division when he is in top form."

The third choice from Bajkowski is midfielder Emyr Huws, who having been on loan from Manchester City, joined permanently in the summer.

Bajkowski said: "The deadline day departure of James McArthur to Crystal Palace was a big blow to Rosler's team as it upset the balance that Wigan had.

"One player that could step up is 21-year-old Huws. The central midfielder is maturing and learning with every game.

"Huws made headlines last season in the Championship with a spectacular goal on loan at Birmingham, but with Ben Watson and Chris McCann still recovering from long-term injuries Huws has been defensively-minded.

"He is a cultured left-footer, his passing and tackling are excellent and he reads the game well."
