Jose Mourinho was in a spiky mood after his Chelsea side lost in the Community Shield to Arsenal.

The Blues fell behind to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's 26th minute goal and failed to make their second half pressure count.

Below are the key points to come out of the Portuguese boss' press conference.

On the game

Winner: Alex Oxlade Chamberlain scores

Oxlade-Chamberlain's strike gave the Gunners a 1-0 win, despite Chelsea pressure in the second half.

Mourinho said: "Normally you like to say the team that defends very well, normally doesn't deserve to win. I have to say the best team lost and the defensive team won. If you want to be pragmatic like I normally am – they scored, they didn't concede, well done."

Not shaking hands with Wenger

Snub: Arsene Wenger

The managerial behemoths did not shake hands and Mourinho pointed the finger at the Gunners boss.

He said: "You only miss me if you want to miss me. Every player came to my direction, and if other people didn't come in my direction. That's not a problem, that's not a story that's not the end of the world."

Losing the psychological edge

Party: Arsenal's Petr Cech celebrates after winning the FA Community Shield

The defeat marked the first time in 14 attempts Wenger has beaten Mourinho but the Portuguese boss played it down.

Mourinho explained: "I have never had a psychological edge. I never have. What happened before is not normal. I never paid attention to that. When a game is one game it has no relation to other games. 13 games is an eternity – it is too much."

Chucking away his medal

Unhappy: Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho

Mourinho threw his runners up medal into the crowd but played down the significance.

He said: "I don't want the medal. I don't keep the ones when I win, so imagine when we lose. The kid was an Arsenal kid – so I imagine is a good moment for him."

Diego Costa's fitness

Unfit: Diego Costa in action

The striker missed the game with a hamstring injury that has blighted him over the past 12 months.

Mourinho said: "I don't know. You think I am lying. Two days ago he was ready to play. The next time you ask me, I prefer not to answer."
