Mark Warburton believes Norwich City learnt what goes around comes around the hard way today as Brentford secured victory at Carrow Road.

Jota broke the deadlock early on for the visitors before Nathan Redmond’s leveller and on-loan Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Alex Pritchard won it with a penalty.

Pritchard had been denied a penalty in the reverse fixture, a 3-0 loss at Griffin Park in September, and Bees boss Warburton thinks that was a bit of karma at work in norfolk.

“I think we deserved it,” Warburton told the BBC.

“In the first fixture that [the penalty decision] was a game-changing moment but what goes around comes around hopefully and today we got the reward. Pritch put it away magnificently well and that showed his character at 21 years old.

It’s a tough place to come. I sensed the trepidation from the fans and they were a Premier League club last year, a very talented squad, but from the first whistle I thought we were great and on the front foot.

Penalty: Alex Pritchard scores the second goal for Brentford

“You heard the crowd go quiet and then they had one shot and got a goal, which I didn’t think they deserved, and after half time it would’ve been easy to sit back. We didn’t and we were positive and maintained it.

“I was delighted all over the park, without fault, even the substitutes came on and maintained that. Long and Tommy Smith made an impact and Jon Toral did well as well from the bench. It’s a squad game and it’s the squad that’ll get us where we want to go.”

The 2-1 result ends new Norwich manager Alex Neil's perfect start to life at Carrow Road and sees Brentford move up to fourth, within touching distance of Middlesbrough and Bournemouth at the summit.
