Wealdstone manager Gordon Bartlett is hoping his side don't give up their second league double when they face Basingstoke on Saturday.

The Stones lost to Boreham Wood last weekend, the first time they've been beaten by the same side at home and away this season.

And he doesn't want that to repeat itself this weekend against a side he sees as a potential blueprint for the Ruislip based club.

He said: “Basingstoke beat us at home, which wasn't a good reflection so we're going to try and reverse that result.

“There are very good examples of how it should be done. A few have been knocking on the door who have given themselves a great chance this year.”

Having secured survival, Bartlett is thinking about how to develop his side for the coming season and is committed to improving the setup further for their second season in the Conference South.

He added: “It's an ongoing process. Whether we win or lose on Saturday will not change the long-term focus of where we want to be.

“I joined the club when we were in Division Three of the Ryman and we looked to improve year on year.

“We've built on good foundations and continue to strive to do that but we won't be throwing money at it.

“We're not that type of club so we'll do things gradually until we've got a solid foundation to get into the Conference.”
