Andrea Bjelland is delighted to be back playing regularly for Brentford and is happy with his defensive contribution this season.

The Danish international clearly has an influence at the back for the Bees. They hardly concede when he plays.

Bjelland has been part of four clean sheets for Brentford this season, while he also helped Denmark to a further couple in the last couple of months.

Brentford boss set to make defensive decision ahead of Sunderland

In total, Brentford have conceded six goals in seven games Bjelland has played in, three of which came in September and October.

"I have been happy, that's what it's all about," Bjelland told Get West London.

"I was struggling at the beginning of the season when I didn't play, so that was tough mentally as well.

"But it's good to be back playing and hopefully it stays like that.

Brentford boss Dean Smith has message to the fans ahead of Sunderland clash

"Keeping clean sheets is a big part of my game, it's what I have to do being a central defender.

"We have to keep a clean sheet, especially when we've had so much ball possession.

"We have got better and better, so we want to keep doing that. It was a tough 20-30 minutes at the end last weekend against Millwall, they pumped a lot of balls forward.

Brentford defensive ace: Sunderland are stupid if they don't fear us

"Sometimes you enjoy that. Of course we won the game, and if we had drawn it would have been horrible.

"I was a lot more tired in my upper body than in my legs, so that showed what type of game that was.

"But it's part of football and you have to do that."
