Mark Warburton challenged his Brentford players to take their game to the next level after they were held to a goalless draw at Carlisle United.

The Bees couldn’t find a way through at Brunton Park as the home side defended stubbornly to secure a point from the League One clash.

It follows Brentford’s first defeat under Warburton last week as they were beaten 3-0 at home by promotion rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Boss Warburton fears the rest of the division are now setting up to frustrate the Bees tactically and has urged his team to be more clinical in front of goal.

“We’re disappointed,” Warburton told Bees Player after the Carlisle draw. “I thought we dominated possession but perhaps lacked a little bit of quality. We have to be better than that. I won’t criticise them for their work-rate or how they approached the game, but we have to be better than that.

“Not long ago we’d have been happy with a point from here. Now, we’re disappointed with a a point. I think teams are going to look at Brentford now and play two banks of four and ask us to come and break them down. We’ve got to be aware of that.

“We’ve got to go to the next level and be more clinical in the final third.”

The result leaves Brentford down in third in the League One table after Wolves and Leyton Orient both recorded wins today.
