Brentford's fantastic fireworks night display at Nottingham Forest was the best highlight of Mark Warburton's first year in charge of Brentford.

Warburton this week celebrated 12 months in the Griffin Park hot seat since taking over from Uwe Rosler, guiding the Bees to promotion to the Championship.

And he singled out the 3-1 win at Forest , which was the second in a five-match winning streak which saw him named Championship Manager of the Month for November, as a particular favourite.

He said: “Winning promotion was special. The win at Leyton Orient was important as we took a big step towards our goal, and actually clinching promotion against Preston was a special day.

“Getting out first Championship win against Blackpool also meant a lot, but if I had to pick out one game, I would say Forest away.

“In terms of the performance, and considering the stature of the venue, we were brilliant. In fact, for 75 minutes, we were outstanding.

“The lowest point would be Middlesbrough away, which was the first time in the Championship we hadn't turned up, and I always use it as an example of what can happen if we drop our standards.

“In League One, Wolves at home hurt a lot, but Colchester away made me angry. We may have already been up, but we had a lot of fans come and watch us that day, and to lose in the manner we did – that shouldn't happen.

“Overall though, I am very grateful to have been given the chance here, although it was pointed out to be the other day that the average length of time in charge for a manager is nine months and 27 days, so I am already past that and take nothing for granted!”
