Jose Mourinho granted Eden Hazard a sunshine break last week and the Chelsea manager believes his holiday played a part the Belgian finding the net against Hull City.

Chelsea returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a battling victory over Hull following a setback against Newcastle last time out.

Goals from Hazard and Diego Costa proved enough to beat the Tigers who had Tom Huddlestone sent off in a fiery affair.

Hazard, who is set to sign a new contract in the coming days , was rested for the midweek Champions League triumph over Sporting Lisbon and Mourinho says that time off has helped him rediscover his best form.

“We made an agreement,” Mourinho explained. “He didn’t play against Sporting, I gave him four days’ holiday.

“He went somewhere with nice weather, where he could take his shirt off and get some sun. He told me he would come back fresh and you could see the happiness in his legs.”

Mourinho wasn’t surprised to see the playmaker on the scoresheet today, however he didn’t predict the 23-year-old’s route past the Tigers goalkeeper.

“We knew we were going to play against a defensive line of three plus two wing-backs,” Mourinho continued.

“I told my three attacking midfielders we needed to move and change positions, go to other areas because if you stay in a stable position that’s what they want, they want targets to mark, so I told them to try to find space between defenders.

“When I saw Eden in the box I wasn’t surprised, but I was surprised to see him score with his head. He jumps a lot but normally he closes his eyes, it was a very good goal.”

Meanwhile, Mourinho has expressed his desire to draw PSG in the next phase of the Champions League when the balls are picked out next week.
