Brentford fired a blank for the second successive game as they were held to a goalless draw by Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night.

Andre Gray found the net early on as the Bees flew out of the blocks, only to be denied by the linesman's flag.

David Button produced a string of fine saves to keep the Owls at bay before the break, while the woodwork also came to the home side's rescue when Steve May hit the post.

Brentford improved after the interval and Jota and substitute Nick Proschwitz wasted good chances to cap their 125th anniversary with a win.

Bees boss Mark Warburton was unhappy Gray's goal was chalked off and called for officials to be given more help.

He said: “We believe Andre was onside when he scored and the video backs that up, but there is little we can do about it after the event."
