Brentford fired a blank for the second successive game as they were held to a goalless draw by Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night.
David Button produced a string of fine saves to keep the Owls at bay before the break, while the woodwork also came to the home side's rescue when Steve May hit the post.
Brentford improved after the interval and Jota and substitute Nick Proschwitz wasted good chances to cap their 125th anniversary with a win.
He said: “We believe Andre was onside when he scored and the video backs that up, but there is little we can do about it after the event."
