Rene Meulensteen insists he doesn't fear the sack despite seeing his Fulham side dumped out of the FA Cup by League One strugglers Sheffield United last night.

Shaun Miller's 119th-minute header sent the Blades through to round five as the Cottagers' miserable campaign took another turn for the worse.

Fulham are bottom of the Premier League, four points adrift of safety with 14 games remaining. But Meulensteen says he still has the support of owner Shahid Khan and remains confident he can change their fortunes.

He said: "Listen, (the owner's confidence) will only last until that is gone.

"Until that time, I will just jeep doing the job the best I can. I have no worries in that respect at all."

Fulham put in their worst display under Meulensteen as they lacked creativity and a cutting edge in the final third against a side who were thumped 3-0 by Crewe at the weekend.

But the under-fire Dutchman has urged frustrated fans not to turn on his side.

He added: “Everybody – staff, players, fans – we’re all not happy with the situation as it is.

"That’s normal. It’s frustration, that’s what it is and the most important thing is that we don’t lose our togetherness, because that’s the only way to get out of this mess.

"If you start falling apart from within, then you start having an even bigger problem, and that cannot happen.

“We need the fans the most at these times. It’s all hunky dory when things are going well, but that’s why they’re called supporters. We need their support.

“We know it’s going to be difficult. We know we’ve got 14 games ahead of us and we need to really get our act together sooner rather than later."
