Bullish Thibaut Courtois isn’t bothered by Chelsea’s chances of going the season unbeaten disappearing at Newcastle United.

The tall goalkeeper was twice beaten by Papiss Cisse at St James’ Park and Didier Drogba’s late header wasn’t enough to keep up the Blues’ 100 per cent Premier League record.

Chelsea are still three points clear of reigning champions Manchester City at the top of the table and Belgian shot-stopper Courtois believes they can remain there until May.

He said: "We don't care about the record. It's always nice if you go the season unbeaten, but the most important thing is to be champions at the end of the season.

"We tried to fight back. Maybe we didn't play our best match but Newcastle is always difficult.

“We were a bit unlucky with the shot that hit the post and the first goal was a bad deflection which fell to his [Cisse’s] feet.

"These things happen in football, but now we have to work hard before the next game to get back on the winning trail."

"If that's with one or two losses, that can happen. The most important thing is that at the end of May we're champions.

"Obviously we were not happy with this result, but we have to stay positive.

“We're still leaders, but to be champions, we know we have to win games and from the next one we will try to win as many as possible. We will fight to make the gap bigger."

Chelsea turn their attentions to the Champions League this week as Sporting Lisbon come to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho has told Blues fans to shout it from the rooftops - Chelsea are still top of the Premier League.
