MARCELLO Trotta hopes his loan spell at Brentford can catapult him into Fulham's first-team plans.

The young Italian striker scored nine goals in 21 starts for the Bees, but his time at Griffin Park ended in heartbreak following the play-off final defeat to Yeovil at Wembley yesterday.

Trotta has made just three substitute appearances for Fulham, but he has set his sights on a place in Martin Jol's first-team squad.

“I will go back to Fulham and see what happens,” said the talented 20-year-old.

“I will do my best and hopefully get some chances over there. They have followed me every week and they have been very happy with my progression.”

However, Trotta refused to rule out the possibility of returning to TW8 on loan again next season if his chances at Craven Cottage are limited.

He added: “It is crucial that I play first-team football. I am a young player and I need to play, on loan or hopefully at Fulham. It is important for me to play and develop.”
