QPR are expected to fend off competition from Premier League side Huddersfield Town to sign Barnsley midfielder Josh Scowen, according to the Sun.

The 24-year-old looks certain to be on the move after rejecting the opportunity to stay at Oakwell, with a number of fellow Championship clubs circling.

The speculation was strengthened when Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom said he knew the destination of where the midfielder was heading, but stopped before confirmation his next club.

As well as the Hoops, Aston Villa, Bristol City, Preston and Nottingham Forest are thought to be interested in Scowen, who is thought to be moving to the south, further supporting the speculation around a move to Loftus Road.

The versatility of the midfielder is something of an attractive proposition, as he is equally at home on the right side of midfield and at full-back.

Scowen made 41 appearances, scoring two goals for the Tykes.
