A host of players have been given a second chance at Tottenham this season - so QPR should be prepared on Sunday.

Spurs spent heavily in the transfer market last summer following the departure of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid but many of the new arrivals failed to set the Premier League on fire.

However, Tom Bodell from the Tottenham & Wood Green Independent believes their time might now have come.

Christian Eriksen has had a good pre-season this time around and Bodell says the Dane is now ready to step up to the plate.

"He was brought back into the fold by Tim Sherwood last season having been frozen out," added Bodell.

"The other thing is he is now back playing in his favourite position in the centre of the park.

"Technically he is an excellent player and good at set pieces. He's now a proper number 10 playmaker and everything goes through him."

Another midfielder who seems to be coming of age is Erik Lamela, who arrived from Roma last summer.

He made a telling contribution from the bench in Thursday night's Europa League win over AEK Limassol.

Coming on after 71 minutes when Spurs were 1-0 down, he set up the goals for Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane.

"He seems to be getting a proper chance under Mauricio Pochettino having come in from the cold last season when Sherwood took over," said Bodell.

"He's had a good pre-season and looks like a new signing. I don't think he will start against QPR but he will certainly play a part at some point."

Bodell's third choice is Emmanuel Adebayor who Bodell says will be Spurs' main goal threat against Harry Redknapp's side.

Target man: Emmanuel Adebayor

"He was another player that Sherwood brought back in and seems to have been given that second chance," added Bodell.

"He missed a lot of pre-season because he had malaria which seemed to go under the radar a bit but he's over that.

"Adebayor is big and he's strong and with Tottenham playing just the one up top you need someone like that."
