Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes that Tjaronn Chery is good enough to play for Holland and believes that the fact he plays in the Championship is the only thing that counts against him.
The QPR forward has created the most chances in the Championship this season and has been one of their best players.
Holland failed to qualify for Euro 2016 and are a side in transition and Chery could be on Danny Blind's shortlist for a friendly with Belgium and a World Cup qualifier with Luxemboug next month.
Hasselbaink said: “The problem with that is because he plays in the Championship as stupid as it sounds.
“Ability wise, he's got enough but I must say Holland has a lot of quality up front. I'm not saying that Chery could not figure in the Dutch squad but that's going to be a difficult one.”
Hasselbaink has lauded Chery's performances and outlined him as a key player on multiple occasions but insisted the Dutch star is not undroppable.
He added: “Everybody is droppable. If he needs a rest or we are playing against a team that his assets are not going to figure as well as others then we have to have a look at it.
“He's an outlet for us. He takes the ball, he creates and if you look at the last two games that we have won – the Fulham game he sets up (Idrissa) Sylla's goal.
“Against Bristol he sends (Massimo) Luongo through and he makes a cross. I was talking about imagination and freedom in the last third and I think he's giving us that.
“I think we need that more from other players. To take that away at this moment that will be a lot to take away from our creativity.”
