Buoyed by a 3-2 win over Leicester on Saturday - Rangers go in search of a first away point of the season at The Liberty Stadium tonight.
Rs midfielder Karl Henry has spoken of a need to win ‘ugly’ or whatever it takes to get off the mark. It will take a fair bit to make sure they shackle a trio of Whites, all in super form for Garry Monk’s side.
The outstanding find has been Wilfried Bony.
Manager Monk fended off questions yesterday on keeping the Ivory Coast international by proclaiming "an astronomical fee’ is the only way he would leave South Wales.
Stephen Ware at the South Wales Evening Post adds: “He burst onto the Premier League scene last season, scoring 25 goals in all competitions.
“And that form has continued this term. Bony has six to his name so far, that added to the 18 goals in the Premier League during 2014 – more than any other player.
“Strong and skilful, with ability on the ground and in the air, Bony is a formidable opponent for any defence.”
Others have already pointed out Gylfi Sigurdsson was Tottenham’s loss and Swansea’s gain, and Ware adds the Icelander is on a par with the likes of Cesc Fabregas when it comes to effect.
Ware added: “Sigurdsson returned for a second spell with Swansea last summer after first arriving on loan from Hoffenheim in 2012.
“Back from Spurs, he took little time to settle in. He is a vital cog in the Swansea machine, operating in between midfield and attack. Only Chelsea’s Fabregas has provided more Premier League assists, while Sigurdsson is also a goal threat himself. The stunning 25-yard free-kick he converted against Arsenal on November 9 is testament to that.”
Not so obvious, unless you are the local man more aware than most is Jefferson Montero.
Ware explains: “The Ecuador international caught the national eye during his man-of-the-match performance against Arsenal.
“In that game he routinely raced past Calum Chambers and provided the cross for Bafetimbi Gomis’s headed winner. His electric pace terrifies most defenders, while he also possesses tricks and quick feet."
