Guus Hiddink believes Thibaut Courtois will stay at Chelsea despite rumours of a move back to Spain.

The Belgium international goalkeeper was allegedly involved in a training ground altercation with Chelsea’s goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon this week.

Lollichon, who mentored Blues legend Petr Cech, is said to have a fractured relationship with the Belgian stopper, and the duo have been on icy terms all season.

It has added fuel to the fire that the unhappy Blues keeper is set to depart Stamford Bridge for Spain, with Real Madrid interested in the 23-year-old.

But Hiddink has laughed off suggestions of a punch-up, and insists the young star will remain at the club.

He said: “I don’t think so. They are working as a group, as goalies do, in their reduced area.

“They are different personalties but they do well, they work hard.

"The most important thing is that Courtois said he is very happy at Chelsea and will stay at the club.

“If Steve (Atkins, Chelsea's head of communications) and I were to have a big dispute, we have to fight each other out of this hall.

"That is not what is going on - they are happy here.”
