Thibaut Courtois will return to the Chelsea squad for Saturday’s trip to Swansea City but the Blues could continue with Petr Cech in goal.

The Belgian goalkeeper was ruled out of the weekend win over Newcastle United due to a thumb injury as Blues legend Cech took possession of the gloves.

Courtois has been Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper this season but is still not fully fit and may be confined to the bench at the Liberty Stadium.

Keeping his place? Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech

Boss Jose Mourinho said: “Thibaut Courtois should be fit tomorrow, he might not be 100 per cent but how many players are through the season?

"I have the two best goalkeepers in the Premier League. I can decide with the keepers in the same way as I decide with the other players.

"My decision against Newcastle was a simple decision because a 100 per cent fit Petr Cech is better than an 85 per cent fit Thibaut Courtois."

In training: Thibaut Courtois

Courtois has made 22 appearances in all competitions so far during his first campaign at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho also confirmed that Spanish full-back Cesar Azpilicueta would miss the trip to Wales after limping out of the Newcastle game.

He added: “The injury is less than we thought.

“He was intelligent to understand that the big injury was coming and he stopped.

“I think next week he will be training with the team again, but he will not play tomorrow.”

Filipe Luis is expected to start at left-back having come on a replacement for Azpilicueta 37 minutes into the clash with the Magpies at Stamford Bridge.
