Jose Mourinho has hailed the return to John Terry to the heart of the Chelsea back four to face Everton – especially as David Luiz will miss out.
Terry, who has been sidelined for a couple of weeks with a muscle strain, will be back in the side when Chelsea take on Roberto Martinez's men in tomorrow's early kick off at Stamford Bridge.
All of which is music to the ears of Blues boss Mourinho, who has now also lost fellow centre back Luiz to a muscle complaint.
He said: “John Terry will definitely start but David Luiz is injured. He (Luiz) is not ready for this game. It's a muscle, and abdominal pain. We hope he's ready for the next match as it's Champions League, as Matic and Salah are not available.
“If we don't have John Terry or David Luiz one day then the situation would be even more difficult. John is a stable player, and not a player who will make a lot of mistakes.
“He brings a level of performance which gives a stability to the team. Every team, especially a team with lots of young players, needs stability from the back. That keeps us in the position we're in.
“He's a voice on the pitch. Sometimes I cannot control the defensive line from my position on the touchline. John and Gary Cahill will give us stability.”
