JOHN Terry should not even begin to think about coaching just yet, according to Roberto Di Matteo.

The Chelsea skipper has made no secret of his desire to one day manage the club, but the current interim coach says he should just enjoy playing for now.

“I think he's still too young for that,” said the Italian.

“He still has many years in him to play. I can help him with his coaching badges, maybe, but he's got so many years ahead of him playing and I would always recommend to any players to play as long as they can because that's the best part of a footballing career.”

Di Matteo added you could never tell whether a great player was likely to make a successful transition into management, even someone like Terry with his obvious leadership skills.

“It's really difficult to see who's actually going to become one or not,” Di Matteo said.

“It depends how life goes and what events happen in your life. You can't say now what's going to happen.”
