QPR survived the early dismissal of defender Matt Connolly to claim their first away win of the season.

A 33rd minute free-kick from returning skipper Martin Rowlands was enough for a 1-0 win at Norwich City on Wednesday night - a result which lifted Rangers back up to fourth in the Championship.

Connolly picked up two yellow cards with less than half an hour gone and for the second away game running, Ian Dowie's men had to graft for points.

But Connolly's replacement, Kaspars Gorkss, was outstanding at the heart of the defence.

Beaten on their last six visits to Carrow Road, the victory suggests a special season could be unfolding for the Rs.
