Brentford are destined for big things this season - because their boss Mark Warburton is up there with Jose Mourinho and Manuel Pellegrini!
So says summer signing Marcos Tebar, who worked with the pair at Real Madrid after progressing through the ranks at the Bernabeu.
Tebar has followed Chelsea chief Mourinho and Mancester City manager Pellegrini to England, but rather than the glitz and glamour of the Premier League, he will be plying his trade with the newly-promoted Bees.
However, the 28-year-old insists Warburton’s flowing football will make them a force to be reckoned with in the Championship as they begin their campaign against Charlton on Saturday afternoon.
He said: “I played with the first team at Real Madrid during pre-season under both Jose Mourinho and Manuel Pellegrini.
“I was at Madrid during Mourinho’s first season. He had a very good relationship with the players. I improved my football under him, mainly the defensive side of my game. He was a very good manager.
“Pellegrini was great and I think he wants to play more with the ball whereas Mourinho is more defensive.
“Mark Warburton is also very good. I like his style of play. It is good for me because it is the way I like to play football. Out of the three managers I would say Warburton’s football suits me the best.”
Tebar pitted his wits against the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for Almeria in La Liga last season after rejecting the chance to move to England 12 months ago.
However, he jumped at the opportunity second time around after a conversation with City striker Alvaro Negredo.
He added: “I always wanted to come here to England. Last year I was close to coming to Brentford, but at the last moment I got an offer from Almeria.
“I was very excited to play in the Spanish top division because it was always my dream. There are a lot of good players in the league. Two of the best players in the world play in La Liga, Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, so it was a great experience for me.”
