ADEL Taarabt's two-goal blast gave QPR their first win of the season against neighbours Fulham to hand them a Premier League lifeline.

The mercurial Morroccan scored twice after the break to boost struggling Rangers and hand them bragging rights over their west London rivals, despite Mladen Petric's late strike for the visitors.

QPR dominated for long periods and could've been 2-0 up inside 10 minutes, with Djibril Cisse and Jamie Mackie both squandering good chances.

But the hosts eventually took the lead seven minutes into the second half when Taarabt's 25-yard effort took a wicked deflection off Brede Hangeland to wrong-foot the stranded Mark Schwarzer.

Cisse came close to doubling their advantage moments later, only to see his curling effort go narrowly wide of Schwarzer's left-hand post.

But Rangers did make it 2-0 on 69 minutes after a superb solo effort from Taarabt.

The former Spurs man picked up the ball on the halfway line and the Fulham defence stood off as he fired into the bottom corner with the outside of his foot from 18 yards.

However, the visitors pulled one back to ensure a nail-biting finale when substitute Petric's long-ranger took a nick off Ali Faurlin and flew into the top corner.

Cisse almost wrapped it up in the dying minutes, but Schwarzer somehow managed to claw away his header as Rangers held on for their first win since May.
