Fulham manager Kit Symons says that he has forgiven Ryan Tunnicliffe for his Twitter mishap but has reminded the squad about their responsibilities on the social network.

The 22-year-old former Manchester United midfielder was punished by both his club and the Football Association for 'aggravated misconduct' towards Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford's sexual orientation.

The FA gave Tunnicliffe a two-match ban and a fine, while the club have also internally dealt with the situation by charging him two weeks wages.

And while Symons insists that the club have a firm policy on social media, he admits that it is up to the players as to how they behave themselves.

“Well we’re very conscious of it," he said of players on social media. "They’re given guidelines about what to say and what not to say.

"Obviously it’s down to individuals whether they do that in the correct and proper manner."

And the former Fulham defender is willing to forgive and forget in the case of Tunnicliffe, although the midfielder will sit out the matches against Cardiff and Wycombe Wanderers.

He added: "Ryan has made a mistake and he’s been punished for it. Other than saying players cannot do any sort of social media, you’ve got to expect them to use their common sense."
