A win for Kit Symons tomorrow against Blackburn puts him in pole position for the Fulham manager's job.

Not least because he carries the endorsement of ex-Whites Steve Sidwell and David Stockdale, who both tweeted in favour of the 43-year-old.

GetWestLondon understands the man in temporary charge following the sacking of Felix Magath heads the list because he brought on a chunk of the first-team squad and comes ready made.

The powers-that-be want someone who understands both the plan to bring on kids as well as how the club works.

There is none better than U21 coach Symons, who played 102 times for the Whites including the record-breaking season that saw them win the old First Division under Jean Tigana.

In fact, the former central defender played alongside ex-Whites boss Chris Coleman in a Fulham line-up as well as coaching Wales with Coleman on a part-time basis.

However, when he rejoined the Craven Cottage coaching staff as U21 boss, Symons’ coaching career really took off when he guided the Whites to the FA Youth Cup final last season where they only lost 7-6 on aggregate to Chelsea.

In that Fulham side were Pat Roberts, Moussa Dembele, Cameron Burgess and Emerson Hyndman - all of whom are in the current first-team squad.

However, a long list also wants Magath’s job; with Steve Clarke the newest face hoping for a chance to extract the Whites from the mire at the foot of the Championship.

The ex-Chelsea defender and former WBA boss has been out work since he left the Baggies in December last year.
