Fulham senior coach Stuart Gray was pleased with how his side performed in the thrilling 2-2 draw against Brentford but bemoaned his side's fallibility when it comes to defending set-pieces.

The Bees took the lead through Alan Judge's penalty but the home side pegged them back after James Tarkowski put the ball into his own net.

Moussa Dembele gave Fulham the lead in the second half but Jack O'Connell turned the ball home from Jake Bidwell's corner to give Brentford a share of the spoils.

Although Fulham fans left the ground feeling more entertained than they have done in recent years, Gray would rather see them leaving with smiles on their faces after three points.

He said: “I prefer to win games. With this group of players, we're underachieving and we need to push for the top six.

“We need to stop giving away soft goals. For us to score, we've got to produce fantastic play. We're not defending balls into the box properly.”

Gray is unsure what Fulham's problem is when it comes to defending corners but he was pleased with the endeavour of his squad.

He added: “It doesn't matter how you defend but every games goals will be scored from set plays.

“You can't stop it. It seems spooky that it's 14 we've conceded this season. I can't fault the players' effort and commitment.

“We just couldn't enjoy that lead. We had two half-chances to get a third. It wasn't to be and a draw was probably a fair result.”
