Chris Long hopes his Brentford loan can help earn him a new deal at Everton.

The striker made his Toffees first-team debut in December, but is out of contract at the end of the season.

Long, 19, is desperate to prove his worth to manager Roberto Martinez by being a big hit with the Bees and came off the bench in Saturday's 2-1 win at Norwich.

He said: “I’m fighting for a contract because my deal is up at the end of the year. I’ve been at Everton since I was five, so hopefully I can cement a place up front there one day.

“It was a dream come true to make my debut because my family are all Evertonians but I have to work hard to prove myself while I am down here.

“I’ve been dying to get out and play all season, so hopefully I can take my chance. I’ve scored a lot of goals at academy level but I want to test myself in the Championship.”
