Tom Hickey admits it was odd playing against Hampton & Richmond Borough on Saturday rather than lining up in red and blue.

But that didn't stop the midfielder, who moved from Beveree to Wealdstone this summer, help his new side knock his old one out of the Middlesex Senior Cup on Saturday.

It was a repeat of last year's final, but while a Hickey wonder-strike helped Hampton lift the trophy with a 3-2 win back in May, Wealdstone gained their revenge with a 6-0 thumping 6-0 win on Saturday.

Hickey said: “It was strange playing against Hampton as I cam through the ranks with them and was there for years. They're a side in transition, so it was probably a good time to play them.

Final flourish: Hickey celebrate's his goal in last year's final

“There was only four of five lads left from when I was there, but I think with the new manager they will be just fine. I was surprised they got rid of Tommy Brewer though as he is quality.

“I've still got a lot of friends there, so I didn't really celebrate – but I might have if I had scored as it's been so long.

“It was even stranger with it being a repeat of last year's final but being on the other side. We want to win a trophy, so we are taking the tournament seriously.”

Wealdstone return to Conference South action on Saturday when they host Maidenhead United.
