Brentford's loan signing of Alex Pritchard will make them the envy of many other clubs, says Bees boss Mark Warburton.

The Spurs midfielder, who made his mark for Tottenham at Warburton's NextGen Series between 2011 and 2013, joined the Bees on a season long loan yesterday.

The 21 year old, who made his first team debut for Spurs on the final day of last season, had an impressive loan spell with Swindon last term and was one of the stand out players in League One.

Warburton said: “I've watched Alex from a very young age, and a lot of clubs were looking at him and wanted to sign him this summer, so we are delighted to have got him.

“He is a very good player technically but is also competitive. He can play on the left, on the right, in the middle or even wear the number 10 shirt, so he gives us plenty of options.”

Pritchard did not feature in last night's 3-1 pre-season win over Boreham Wood, but will be in contention when Brentford take on Barnet in their next friendly on Tuesday.

He joins fellow former Robins stars Jonathan Douglas and Alan McCormack at Griffin Park, and the latter clashed with Pritchard during Brentford's 1-0 defeat at the County Ground back in April.
