JASON Puncheon looks set to return to Southampton when his loan at QPR expires next month.

The former MK Dons, Millwall and Blackpool winger has had a disappointing spell since his switch to Loftus Road on transfer deadline day, making just two substitute appearances.

Boss Neil Warnock will hold talks with the 25-year-old over the next couple of weeks, but looks unlikely to extend his stay in W12 beyond January 2.

He said: “We'll be speaking to Jason over the Christmas period. He's been a bit unlucky because when he came we hadn't signed Shaun Wright-Phillips and Jamie Mackie was injured, so all of a sudden there's two more before him and Tommy Smith as well. It's been difficult for him.”
