The secret of Isleworth Colts U14s success this season has been learning to keep it buttoned.

Coach Paul Haines has had the teenagers training in silence, in contrast to last season when amid their constant shouting at one another, a talented team were relegated.

Now, drills and fitness circuits are in while game of five-a-side are out, yet the same squad of players are reaping the benefits.

Unbeaten in the Hayes & District League Division One, Haines' side are also in the semi-finals of the Cup, having knocked out the holders Park Place.

"We've taught the boys it's no good shouting for a ball if you've got two people on you or you're over the other side of the pitch," Haines said.

"We put 20 poles in a 30-foot square and made them pass to one another just by looking at each other."

The Colts chalked up their latest win on Sunday beating Court Park Colts 4-0.

Shafi Khaliqiar bagged a brace with Jack Kerr and man-of-the-match Amin Said also on target.
