Scott Parker has warned Fulham’s rivals to write them off at their peril.

Caretaker boss Kit Symons has transformed the club’s fortunes to boost his chances of landing the job on a full-time basis in a three-way fight with Chris Hughton and Steve Clarke.

Sean Kavanagh’s first senior goal earned them a fourth victory in five games to knock Norwich off top spot on Saturday.

The win wasn’t enough to haul the Cottagers out of the drop zone, but skipper Parker says they can still mount a promotion push.

He said: “Four or five weeks ago I felt we looked a little bit vulnerable and confidence was low, so I definitely feel we are going in the right direction and if we continue that we will go up the league.

“It would be foolish to write us off. All of a sudden you get a run of games and if you get some good results before you know it you can be right up there again.

Match winner: Sean Kavanagh celebrates with his Fulham team-mates

“You need everyone pulling in the right direction. The fans, the staff members and everyone seemed a bit distant a month ago and that’s probably down to results.

“Over the last few weeks we’ve won games and that breeds confidence and a good atmosphere to work in.

“Different managers have different ideas and Kit has a totally different philosophy in the way he manages people and his team to what Felix [Magath] did.

“There is obviously differences and in this present moment the way Kit’s dealing with it and how he’s managing the team so far it’s working because we’re winning games.

“The players are 100 per cent behind him. If ever a performance epitomised a team which are fighting in the right way it was on Saturday because I think a few weeks ago we would have lost that game.”
