Angry Brentford boss Andy Scott is mulling over a complaint to the FA over Nathan Elder's sending off on Saturday.

Elder was red-carded for a shove on Simon King, who had fouled Marvin Williams and held him on the floor.

The incident led to a brawl featruing most of the 22 men on the pitch at Priestfield.

And while Scott did not have any complaints about the red card, he felt Gillingham's ex-Bee Garry Richards should have gone for an early bath too for head-butting Elder.

Scott said: "I will look at it again because Garry Richards head-butted Nathan Elder. I saw it and all my bench saw it. Half  the crowd saw it.

"Even the fourth official saw it but he retracted it afterwards because he would probably have got himself in trouble.

"Richards wasn’t even spoken to by the referee. I think the linesman only had eyes for one man.

"In this day and age I’m not sure if he’ll get off. But we’ll certainly be making a point to the FA that Garry Richards should be banned after what he did.

"I don’t condone it [what Nathan did]. But if there is a red card for Nathan there should be a red card for Garry too."

Scott also felt Elder was provoked by Richards, who had a loan spell at Brentford two years ago.

He added: "There was a tangle of legs and Richards ran over to get involved with Nathan.

"He trod on Nathan’s foot, head-butted him, then Nathan pushed him away, which is a natural reaction.

"What we’re looking for is a bit of fairness from the officials. I felt the referee got dominated by the assistant linesman.

"He didn’t even speak to the fourth official. He only spoke to the linesman, who only had one view. If he had asked the fourth official if he had seen something he might have got a different answer."

Charlie MacDonald gave Brentford a 27th-minute lead with his 10th goal of the season, taking advantage of some comedy defending after Elder chased down a weak back-pass to square for his striking partner.

But the home side equalised midway through the second-half when Brentford failed to clear their lines and Simeon Jackson headed home his 11th goal of the season.
