Having to sit and wait while Lincoln turned up 40 minutes late put Brentford on the back foot on Saturday, boss Andy Scott admitted.

The Imps got stuck in traffic around Wembley and Gunnersbury on their way to Griffin Park, and the game did not kick off until 3.40pm.

And what followed was a lacklustre 1-1 draw in which the struggling visitors grabbed only their fifth point of the season.

Scott said:
"They probably knew they were going to be late about three hours before kick-off and were prepared for it. We didn't and weren't.

"It's the first time this has happened in my time in charge, and in those situations you just have to try and relax the players. Players' eating and sleeping patters are all geared up towards 3pm on a Saturday, and the nervous tension is built up for them.

"Waiting that long probably takes it out of them, and it's a bit difficult to get them back to that level again."

Nathan Elder gave the Bees the lead on 24 minutes when he smashed home from the edge of the box.

But they were in front for just six minutes before Adrian Patulea capitalised on sloppy defending to equalise.
