Diego Costa will return to Chelsea for treatment after being ruled out of Spain's Euro 2016 qualifier against Ukraine and a friendly with the Netherlands with a hamstring injury.
The 26-year-old scored his 20th goal of the season for the Blues before limping out of a 3-2 win at Hull City on Sunday.
He was replaced by Loic Remy with 15 minutes to go at the KC Stadium and the Frenchman netted the winner in Yorkshire.
A statement on the Spain Football Federation’s official website read: "Diego Costa, left the premises of the Spanish Football Federation this morning after undergoing several tests with the medical services of the RFEF.
"The striker has suffered a level 1 hamstring tear on the biceps femoris of the left thigh, which was previously already noted by the medical services of his club.
"Diego Costa will return to Chelsea FC where he will undergo the corresponding medical treatment."
Spain’s head coach Vicente del Bosque has called up Malaga's 21-year-old striker Juanmi as cover for the injured Costa.
