As a footballer, there are times in your career when you’re not selected.

It’s more frustrating when you’re 100 per cent fit, rather being ruled out through injury. You train hard all week, so if you’re not in the squad you feel at a loose end at 3pm on a Saturday.

When I missed out on the trip to Tranmere recently I went to watch my mate play for West Brom against Fulham. I needed my football fix, it was either that or walking round a shopping centre!

Not being involved is tough, but you have to keep your head down, work hard and take your opportunity when it comes. I have seen other players do it and you respect them for it.

It’s easy to spit your dummy out and throw your toys out of the pram. As a club, Brentford wouldn’t stand for it, but neither would the boys in the squad either.

You’ve got to understand the bigger picture.

Hopefully Sunday’s game against Coventry was a turning point for me. I got 25 minutes and managed to set up a goal.

The lads seemed really happy for me, which sums up the spirit we’ve got a club. You care about what your fellow pros think of you.

We needed a result after the Leyton Orient defeat. Our confidence took a blow but we showed the guts to go to Coventry and turn things around.

They’re no mugs, so to come away with three well-deserved points was great. We performed well and there was some nice combination play too.

We need to go on a bit of a run now and string a few wins together. We’ve got the confidence back again now, so go into the Rotherham game and Tuesday’s JPT clash at Peterborough raring to go.

Off the pitch, a few of the boys at the club are keen golfers. Macca and Simon Royce play a couple of times a week, but Scotty Barron is only allowed to play when his missus lets him!

Dougie is pretty tasty too, but Shay Logan can normally be found somewhere in the trees looking for his lost ball.

We had our club golf day this week and I'm delighted to say I bossed it and beat Kev into first place. Special mention for Tony Craig, who had a shocker!
