Rico Henry has promised Brentford fans energy, enthusiasm and hard work as well as solid defending.

The 19-year-old joined the Bees from Walsall at the end of August but is yet to make his debut after a dislocated shoulder.

Brentford supporters have been excited about seeing the full back in action and he sought to inform them what they can expect when he returns to full fitness.

“They can expect good, solid defending. I love attacking and going forward but at the right times. They can expect energy, enthusiasm and hard work,” Henry said.

“My recovery is going well. It's a long time and I'm getting back into it doing non contact training. I'm not sure when I'm going to be back but I know it'll be sometime soon.”

Henry will rival fellow 19-year-old full back Tom Field for a spot in Dean Smith's starting XI and the full back will thrive on the battle for the shirt.

He added: “I think that's good. I know Tom is good in training and on the pitch. He will keep me motivated and want to do better.

“Off the pitch we're friends but on the pitch we'll be competing to get that place.”

Henry has been back in non contact training and he has been made to feel welcome by the rest of the squad.

“The past few weeks I've been training with them and they've made me feel welcome on and off the pitch and it's good,” he explained.

“Going back into training, I felt the first few passes. It's a big step to the Championship.”
