Today saw the end of Ben Gladwin's two-year stay at Loftus Road as the midfielder joined Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old's career at Loftus Road never really took off, something which manager Ian Holloway claimed was down to "the fans not taking to him".

Speaking to Get West London in January, Holloway spoke of the decision to offload the midfielder to Swindon Town for a second loan spell, after saying that he didn't take his chance.

He said: "I gave a chance to Ben Gladwin, and I've had to loan him out because our fans weren't having him.

“I don't feel he could ever score for us if our crowd keep on chanting at him, like they were when I gave him a chance.

“If you had a teacher at school who yelled at you "you're crap, you're rubbish" could you achieve anything? I don't think so."

Holloway compared the midfielder's fate with his own, after joining at the same time as Former England and Chelsea hero Ray Wilkins, who was attracting all the praise from the fan, leaving him to pick up the slack, saying: "I wasn't popular here when I first came.

"I carried the piano and let Ray Wilkins play it."

Gladwin will be looking forward to making his mark at Ewood Park as he looks to help Tony Mowbray's side return to the Championship at the first attempt.
