QPR will play Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven on July 8 - but will do so in the humble surrounds of an amateur club whose badge commemorates the famous story of A Bridge Too Far.


Also known as Operation Market Garden, and made famous by the 1977 film starring Robert Redford, Sean Connery and Michael Caine, this is the audacious Allied drop by parachute into Holland in the hope of bringing the Second World War to a speedy conclusion.

Regarded as a massive failure, the inhabitants of Driel, en route to the bridge in Arnhem that held the key, nonetheless remembered brave Poles, who were part of the plan, when they incorporated a parachute and Poland national colours into the badge of RKSV Driel, where Rs meet PSV.

The visit to the fourth division side gives way to a second Rangers game against midfielder Tjaronn Chery’s former club, FC Groningen – who finished the Dutch top-flight season in seventh - at De Langeleegte Stadium, Veendam, on Monday, July 8, kicking off at 7pm (local time).

Rs want travelling fans to note tickets for both fixtures must be purchased in advance via the QPR Box Office, priced £10 Adults, and £5 Under 18s. Tickets will not be available to purchase on the day.
