Rasmus Ankersen has revealed that the last two years at Brentford has seen him learn the most he has ever done in his professional life.

The co-director of football has had a varied career from researching what creates elite athletes, to public speaking as well as his roles a the Bees and FC Midtjylland.

But he believes working at Brentford and in English football has been a steep learning curve for him.

Ankersen said: “I think the cultural difference is something you don't understand until you actually work in a new country and a new environment.

“I had to learn a lot in terms of what do people expect from you as a manager and how you speak to people and what motivates them.

“What the cultural norms – it's a bit unseen but really important to understand. Also, football culture.

“English culture is different and understanding that has been key for me. We learned a lot as we've driven a lot of change and there have been some tough decisions to take.

“We learned a lot about change management and I think I've learnt the most in my professional life in the last two years.”
