Bobby Zamora could be in line to face Everton after the QPR striker was an unused substitute through injury at Crystal Palace.

Manager Chris Ramsey decided against bringing the popular striker on at Selhurst Park with QPR 3-0 down at half-time as he was fearful the frontman would need longer recovery time.

With the veteran suffering from a chronic hip problem Ramsey is prepared to keep Zamora wrapped in cotton wool, unless he really needs him.

The manager explained: “He’s playing through an injury, so he’s injured all the time. He was on the bench last weekend because he wanted to be on the bench.

“He was probably not eligible to play, based on his injuries, and we’ve been trying to nurse that all week to make sure he’s ready for this weekend.

“When we went 3-0 down in the first half, suddenly you do have to think, ‘hang on, we’ve got x games to go and he’s one of our main players. Do we risk him being injured for four more games?’

“Had the game been tighter at half-time, we probably would have risked it for the points.”
